In Memoriam Jan Zytkow

We have learned with great sadness that Jan Zytkow has passed away on Jan 16. Jan was a well-known researcher in the area of scientific discovery, a pioneer in machine learning, an author of many publications and books, an organiser of many conferences and meetings, the driving force behind the PKDD conferences, a wonderful person, and a friend. Those who knew him will miss him.
