Jana Koehler received her Ph.D. (Dr. rer. nat.) from University
of Saarland in 1994. From 1990 until 1995 she was working at the German
Research Center for AI
(DFKI),
project PHI. She was a guest researcher
at University of Linkoping in 1994,
the
University of Maryland in 1995,
and a postdoc at ICSI Berkeley
in 1995/1996. From 1996 to 1999 she was an assistant professor at the University
of Freiburg where she got her habilitation (Dr.habil.) and developed
the IPP
planning system. In May 1998, she started working as a consultant for
Schindler Lifts Ltd and joined the company between Fall 1999
and Spring 2001 to develope a new intelligent elevator control system.
In April 2001, she joined the Computer Science Research Department at the
IBM Zurich Research Laboratory where she has built up a new research group focusing on business-driven development.
She is the winner of several awards including the AKI
Dissertation Award 1995 and the Digital Equipment Prize 1994. The IPP planner
won the first
international planning competition at AIPS-98 in the ADL track and
received the KI/UI Award for the best academic research prototype at the
German Conference for AI 1998. She is also serving as president of the VFF-DFKI.
Her research interests develop with the projects she is working on: planning and scheduling
technology, combinatorial optimization techniques, multi-agent systems. Recently: workflow systems, model checking,
process algebras, service-oriented architectures and business process modeling.
