Dr. Lule Ahmedi

Biographical sketch: Lule Ahmedi received her PhD in computer science from Freiburg University in April 2004 with a dissertation in the area of XML Databases and Semantic Web. She belongs to the Databases and Information Systems group (DBIS) headed by Prof. Dr. Georg Lausen as a regular PhD candidate teaching and research assistant since summer 1999. Before, she earned a Diploma degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from the University of Prishtina, Kosova with highest honors in 1995 and received an award for Outstanding Undergraduates from the Academic Senate of the University. Afterwards she attended the Master Studies in Computer Science for two years (1996-1998). She was granted a one-year research fellowship (1998/1999) from DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service), where she spent the first part at Magdeburg University, and then moved to Freiburg University in February 1999. Research Interests

My main research interests are in the fields of XML Databases, Data Integration over the Web, Ontologies and LDAP Directories. Recently, I am also interested in Semantic Web and its application to problems in Peer-to-Peer Systems, OLAP Warehouses and Semantic Search.
