Team project/major laboratory course
In the third semester each student shall complete a team project or a major laboratory course in the field of Bioinformatics or Systems Biology. This can be for example a programming project, a paper or a combined practical and theoretical laboratory course in biology. This project is not a specific course listed in the course catalog; it shall help to involve the students in the actual research of the chairs. This project is assessed through a final presentation.

Master thesis
In the fourth semester, students will work out their master thesis. The aim of the master thesis is to work on a scientific research project in cooperation with a professor and his staff. The master thesis is worth 25 ECTS points, its presentation another 5 ECTS points.
