Advanced courses in Computer Science/Biology

In this field students shall deepen their knowledge in computer science and biology. They are required to choose two different lectures - each of them worth 6 ECTS - out of the courses offered at the Faculty of Applied Sciences and at the Faculty of Biology. At least one of the lectures has to be selected out of the advanced courses in Computer Science (Spezialvorlesungen).

Team project/major laboratory course

In the third semester each student shall complete a team project or a major laboratory course in the field of Bioinformatics or Systems Biology. This can be for example a programming project, a paper or a combined practical and theoretical laboratory course in biology. This project is not a specific course listed in the course catalog; it shall help to involve the students in the actual research of the chairs. This project is assessed through a final presentation.

Master thesis

In the fourth semester, students will work out their master thesis. The aim of the master thesis is to work on a scientific research project in cooperation with a professor and his staff. The master thesis is worth 25 ECTS points, its presentation another 5 ECTS points.
