The course is a core course in the area of practical computer science intended for students in their third year (after the "Vordiplom"). The course will give a detailed overview of the methods and principles of software development. It will in particular cover the following topics:

• Specification techniques and languages, including parts of UML and formal languages such as Z.
• Requirements analysis.
• Software-design, focusing on a number of different approaches such as object-oriented programming or functional programming.
• Software robustness, validation, verification and testing.
• Application of tools for software development and version-management.

The techniques will be introduced by case-studies and studied in the exercises.
